Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to get started?

The most important aspect of designing a new site is to know "why" you want it.  Are you trying to sell a product?  Are you trying to expand your customer base, or keep your current customers up to date?  Once we gain an understanding of your needs and objectives we will work one on one with you to create an internet presence that properly reflects your company's goals.

  • The following information should be considered:

    • The amount of pages you will need.

    • The names of the pages you need.  (Our Services, About Us, etc.)

    • Your desired theme and navigation style if you have one.

    • Your desired color scheme.

    • The domain name you wish to use.

    • An idea of which maintenance plan you are interested in.

  • If you have an existing site that you would like us to take over the following information is needed.

    • Your Domain Name.

    • The name of the company you are registered with.

    • Usernames, passwords and ftp information (if required) before we begin work.

What do I need to do once I decide to use KNDDesign.com for my website?

All you will need to do is provide us with the information to put on your website.  Once we have the information we'll take it from there.  Simply put, send us your information and then sit back and watch as we design your new website to suit your needs.

How do I choose a domain name, or what if the domain name I want isn't available?

The best domain names are the ones that are easy to remember.  If your company name is "xzy mufflers" then www.xyzmufflers.com would be the ideal choice.  However if your first choice for a domain name isn't available we will work with you to come up with one that will suit your needs in another way.

Why do I need a maintenance package?

A maintenance package helps to keep your website fresh and up to date.  Depending on what type of website you have this may mean weekly updates, monthly updates or hardly any updates at all.  Once we have an understanding of your needs we'll be able to work with you to choose the most effective plan.

How long does it take to get my site up and running?

Depending on the demand it usually takes 2-4 weeks from the time we gather all of the information for the site to it's completion.

Can you guarantee my site will be included on the most popular search engines, will it be ranked #1?

The short answer is no.  While we make every effort to get your site included and ranked as high as possible in search engines we can't make any guarantees.  However most of our sites do rank in the top 10 for particular "keywords" given to us by our clients.  These "keywords" are what prospective clients would punch into the search engine to find your site.  Since you know your business better then we do, we will work with you to generate keywords that will work best to your advantage.

Can I use my own graphics?

Yes.  If you already have a company logo or any other graphics you would like included in your website we will do so upon your request.

What is a Password Protected Page?

A Password Protected Page is a page that requires a username and password to enter.  A Password Protected Page is used for area's that you don't want the general public to be able to access.  Only those with a username and password can enter the page.

What does Domain Registration include?

We will register and renew your domain name (www.yourbusiness.com) for you at no charge.  In addition we will renew your domain each year at no charge.

How does free hosting work?

This means your website will be hosted on our host account.  One thing you will notice is your website's address will be www.knddesign.com/yoursite/home.html in the web browser.  It will not effect the title or design of your site.  It is also possible to set it up so only your domain name (www.yourbusiness.com) shows up in the users browser on each page when your domain name is typed in.

Can I avoid having knddesign.com as a prefix?

Yes.  To do so we can setup a personal hosting account for your individual website.  Depending on the size of the project this may require an additional monthly or yearly charge.

What is Standard Email Redirection?

Standard Email Redirection allows emails from your website to be redirected to your current email account.  You may have as many aliases (the name that comes before the @ symbol) as needed.  All email addresses will be listed on your website with aliases@yourdomainname.com at the end.  However any replies to clients will show your current email account (@aol.com, @netscape.com, etc.).

What is POP3 Email?

POP3 Email is an email system that  works directly with your email client (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.).  This means all emails are received and sent using the alias you choose.  This also allows you to have your own personal email server and all replies will be seen as youralias@yourdomain.com.

What is WebMail?

WebMail works in conjunction with your POP3 Email.  WebMail allows you to access your email account from anywhere via a web based control panel.

What is a Custom Submission Form?

A Custom Submission Form is a form on your website with multiple questions that your client can fill out and submit.  All of the information submitted is then sent directly to you by email.  A Custom Submission Form can have as many questions and choices as you choose.  All questions and/or choices are placed on the form by KNDDesign.com at your request at no charge.  A Custom Submission Form is a good way to allow a client to answer brief questions so you'll have an idea of what services they are contacting you for.  Here is an example of a Custom Submission Form.

What is a Secure Submission Form?

A Secure Submission Form is the same as a Custom Submission Form but it is setup on a secure server.  This helps protect the information being sent from being viewed by unauthorized users.  Here is an example of a Secure Submission Form.

What is a Specialized Navigation Menu?

A Specialized Navigation Menu is a menu that goes beyond the standard button style navigation menus.  Here is an example of a Specialized Navigation Menu.  (Roll your mouse over the links at the top of the page.)
